RECORDS ANNIHILATED AT 10th ANNUAL
FALLS INTERNATIONAL SPEED RUN
on Saturday, February 17th, 2018

International Falls MN Saturday’s 10th Annual Falls International Speed Run Against Cancer was one for the record books. Local racer Lane Jackson obliterated the Event’s all-time Open Class speed record of 107 mph with a run of 129 mph aboard his Arctic Cat mount. That 129 mph pass was matched later by Tom Deer’s Arctic Cat of Elko MN for second in class. Tyce Jackson took third place honors with an amazing 127 mph blast down the 1,000-foot track at Thunderbird Lodge giving Arctic Cat a clean sweep of the record breaking Open Class podium finishers. Twenty-two of the Open Class 33 passes broke the year old 107 mph record.
Speed records continued to fall throughout the day in the remaining classes as well:

Not to be outdone by mere speed records however, the charity event blew through other milestones as well, including number of snowmobiles registered at 98 vs. the previous record of 85 at last year’s race. Racers flocked to Rainy Lake from a record 36 cities representing Minnesota, North Dakota, Ontario, Wisconsin and… Oklahoma!

International Voyageur Snowmobile Club (IVSC) volunteers raised $1,338 at the event from racer fees and free-will donations. All proceeds are forwarded to the Community Cancer Walk non-profit organization benefiting local cancer treatment patients. IVSC member volunteers also contributed countless hours of track prep, tear down, registration and officiating duties.

Next years’ event is scheduled for Saturday, February 16, 2019 in conjunction with President’s Day weekend. Any bets on 130 mph next year from the Open Class clan?

2018 Annual Hotdog Roast – Another successful year!

SNOWMOBILERS HAVE WARM HEARTS
International Voyageurs Snowmobile Club hosted their annual hot dog roast in February at the Hagerman Shelter.  Steve Thomopoulos who coordinates the roast for IVSC is shown turning over a check to Karina McLellan of the Falls Hunger Coalition.  This annual event has generated a donation to the food shelf each year, with the club matching funds collected.  This years totaled $650.00.   Thanks to all Snowmobilers who attend and help others!
